Electric skateboards

VIT is a huge campus, so Hriteek and Shivanshu solved their own commute: they built electric skateboards and scooters to get around it. That is when they fell in love with electric vehicles.

Movio and micro-mobility

Zipping around campus on those boards caught the eye of VIT-TBI, the university's incubator, which helped turn the project into a business. They registered Movio Technologies Private Limited, raised ₹2.2 lakh, and began building personal light electric vehicles in Bangalore.

Talking to riders taught them the real problem was never the vehicle. It was the battery.

The team needed serious software depth. Shivanshu called an old friend from Kota, Vishrut Vatsa, then at Boeing R&D, who had built software for IISc Bangalore and interned at Apple. He was invited in as a co-founder, and left Boeing to start from zero with Movio.

Government grant

Full-stack prototypes, a made-in-India approach and careful UI/UX caught the attention of the incubators at IIT Roorkee and VIT-TBI. Through the NIDHI PRAYAS scheme and MeitY's TIDE 2.0 scale-up scheme, Movio secured ₹40 lakh in all.

That was the turning point. The founders went full-time on the EV battery problem.

The team moved to Delhi for its supportive EV policy and its ecosystem for hardware companies, and completed its founding team with Paridhi. She and Shivanshu are cousins who grew up together, and her background in economics and human resource management balanced a team of engineers.

Building a team in a new city was the first priority. It would have been far harder without her.

Team building

The early team at an event The team together in Gurgaon Engineers at work in the office The team at an Electrifying India's Mobility expo

From an office in Gurgaon, the founders built a lean team of engineers and business developers. The tech team prototyped hardware while the business team sat with customers to find what hurt. Build, learn, iterate, repeat.

Prototyping

An early swap hub prototype Testing a battery pack prototype Test riding a prototype e-bike in the office Cells laid out for a battery pack

Four battery pack prototypes and two swap hub iterations later, they had a minimum viable product. They tested the whole stack with a first group of riders to learn what worked and what didn't.

MVP

The team with the first Movio swap hub A rider with an MVP e-bike The MVP swap hub and e-bike A delivery rider swapping at night

The MVP went to high-intent riders who are on their vehicles all day, from Swiggy delivery executives to heavy-cargo logistics. It also proved something important: riders love charging at home, as long as they can swap when they need to.

GridXenergy

An early GridX mark GridX battery packs Two of the founders with GridX packs The GridX wordmark

The MVP and conversations with industry experts called for real change. The market was moving to high-speed EVs and personal mobility, so Movio became GridXenergy. The packs grew more powerful and more carefully detailed, and their design and portability were rethought for personal riders.

With the industrial design prototypes complete, GridX went on show to all kinds of audiences, from the Uttarakhand Investor Summit to college campuses in Pune.

SUN Mobility

SUN Mobility's reception The team at SUN Mobility

Shivanshu cold-texted Chetan Maini of SUN Mobility, and the team went to meet the godfather of India's EV industry. They toured SUN's manufacturing plant, pitched their consumer brand and showed their technology to seasoned engineers.

They also found a mentor in Anand Ganapathy Chennira, SUN's Chief Strategy Officer, who has guided them since December 2023.

Early traction

GridX demonstrated its full stack to the EV maker GT Force and secured its first Letter of Intent. A respected fleet owner in Delhi NCR followed with a pre-order for 100 vehicles, on the strength of the working prototypes alone.

Rigorous testing

The test rider with the scooter Riding the test scooter

A dedicated rider put the PowerPod and the app through daily operations, long routes and heavy use. The data and feedback from those rides sharpened the system's stability and the app, and proved the technology ready for the road.

2025 Out of the NCR

First D2C customer

Our first D2C customer with the team at the dealership Retrofitting our first D2C customer's scooter

At a local dealership, the team met a rider tired of battery failures and costly replacements. She was skeptical of battery-as-a-service at first.

Nahi nahi, humein wahi wali battery chahiye. No, no, we want the same old battery.

The team walked her through it: nothing upfront, no maintenance, pay per use. Skepticism turned to curiosity, then trust, and she retrofitted her vehicle. It wasn't just a sale. It was proof that GridX solves a real problem.

Out of the NCR

The four founders in the new Okhla office Late work at the new office Engineers testing hardware on the bench

Our first office and R&D space carried PowerPod from prototype to product. With the team set to grow, we moved into a new office in Okhla, Delhi, with room for everyone about to join us.

More than 500 kWh on the road

An early rider with his scooter

While the new office came together, PowerPod Gen1 kept doing what it does best: serving our customers on the road, every day. Riders have now drawn more than 500 kWh of clean energy from it.

Got Rebalance(d)

A whiteboard session during the Rebalance programme The team together during the Rebalance programme

GridX was selected for Cohort 8 of Rebalance. It did not stay a programme for long: Rebalance joined in as an active partner, working right alongside the team, and brought in more funding to take PowerPod further, faster.

Gen2 begins

GridX's 100 A symmetric connector Inside a PowerPod: cells, BMS and wiring A thermal camera view of a cell under test

We started on Gen2: a PowerPod built for AIS certification and for scale. It brought our own 100 A symmetric connector and cell-level destructive testing.

Vecmocon, which already powers Bajaj, joined us on the BMS and chargers.

Software, rebuilt

Rebuilding the backend Vishrut at work in the office The GridX app's home screen

All year, the software team was busy bringing the entire backend together into one Central Ledger: Paddock. Alongside it, they built SwapNest, the app our dealers run on, and kept refining the customer app riders use every day.

Invisible work that powers the visible magic.

2026 From prototype to the road

Built to the new rules

Cells ready for Gen2 packs Gen2 cell modules Testing a pack module A row of PowerPods

As India raised the bar on battery safety, we set ours higher still: Gen2 had to meet the topmost safety standards, with nothing left to chance.

We built our own fuse, heat-tested the pack for every Indian season, and locked it for production.

Patented, and backed

The founders marking a new chapter The GridX X, drawn on the team The GridXenergy brochure at Chitkara PowerPod under the Think Tank at Chitkara

We filed a patent for the PowerPod's symmetric design. And Chitkara University chose to back us: aligned capital to bring production closer.

Our own line

A PowerPod taking shape on our line Assembling cells by hand Printing enclosures in-house Freshly built packs

The first 50 PowerPod Gen2 were built right here, in our own office, by our own team. Every build refined the process further than Gen1 ever went: cleaner assembly, tighter checks, and a quality bar we now own end to end. All of it is written down, ready to scale.

More of us

Team GridX with a PowerPod Engineers sorting cells Working through a build Working through Paddock at the whiteboard Building the Central Ledger The electronics team on firmware and over-the-air updates

Our lean team grew across electronics, mechanical and software. The first intern batch at our Delhi office joined in and got to real work from day one, then earned pre-placement offers to stay on full-time, like interns before them. Everyone here chose to be here.

A bike joins the platform

A One Electric bike with a PowerPod docked

One Electric's bike now runs on the GridX platform, PowerPod docked. A different vehicle, a different power system, a different rider. The same energy.

On the big stages

We won at Battery 360. Shivanshu Mahim pulled the PowerPod out on stage, right in front of the panel, and the room loved it. We showed PowerPod at TiEcon Chandigarh with Chitkara, then took it national at Battery Summit on 16 June.

The market found us

Carrying a PowerPod With one of our first dealership partners PowerPods and the app on display

One reel travelled further than we planned: 50K+ views, 700+ riders asking where to buy, and 20+ dealerships asking to sell.

So we stopped waiting. Our first dealerships brought PowerPod into their stores. Find one near you.

Own it, or just use it

A rider with his scooter PowerPod at a dealership

Riders wanted PowerPod for different reasons. Some just want the energy, through Energy-as-a-Service. Others want to own the battery outright.

Same PowerPod, two ways in.

Built beyond our walls

A PowerPod built at Stefen Electric PowerPods, ready to go

Stefen Electric, with room for 200 PowerPods a day, built the first one outside GridX, on a line set up to our process. It is already out with a rider.

We filed a process patent, and Gen3 is under way. More on that soon.

Today

Who we are

GridX is an energy company. We started in 2021 as Movio Technologies Private Limited, building electric rides on a college campus, and learned that the part worth reinventing was the energy itself.

So that is what we design, all of it, under one roof: packs shaped for very different lives, the electronics that look after every cell, and the software that reaches from inside the pack to the phone in your hand. Each part is made knowing the others, which is why they behave as one.

PowerPod was the first of them, built for India's two-wheelers, where stored energy works harder every day than almost anywhere else. It is where we began, not where we stop. Our mission is to make stored energy so dependable, portable and affordable that running out is no longer something anyone has to plan around.
